Best of Barcelona – Travel Guide 2022

Things to know before Visiting

One of my favorite cites ever! Barcelona was my first ever European trip and it started my love for traveling in 2017. I was so excited to visit again and celebrate Marcos and I’s 8 year anniversary. Barcelona has it all; the city life, the beach, incredible food, and art all over the city. It is truly my favorite city and I hope to move here one day.

Where to Stay in Barcelona

For only $130 a night, we woke up to the view of the Sagrada Familia. Honestly it was one of the coolest hotel views I’ve ever had. The price included a European buffet breakfast and we stuffed our faces with chocolate croissants. This hotel was located perfectly and we were nearby the metro and bus stops.

How to get around Barcelona

The best and most affordable way to get around Barcelona is by purchasing a metro pass. You can purchase this at any metro station. We bought the 2 day pass for 16 euro and we were able to use the metro and bus unlimited times. Another way to get around is by walking. So get your shoes ready and be prepared to walk all over the city.

Things to do in Barcelona

Sagrada Familia

Make sure to visit the famous and iconic Sagrada Familia. This church has been under construction since 1982 and is estimated to be completed in 2026. Once it is completed, it will be the tallest religious building in all of Europe and it can be seen from almost anywhere in Barcelona. It is absolutely breathtaking from every angle. The detail is absolutely insane! One of the best places to see the Sagrada Familia, is at the rooftop of Hotel Ayre (which I mention later in this blog).

Palau de la Música Catalana

This historical and beautiful concert hall costs about 15 euros to enter.  Even if you don’t go see a show, I highly recommend just walking around. This place was absolutely stunning! It was filled with color, natural light, and peaceful music. It was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This place is a true gem and you can get beautiful pictures here.

Plaza de Catalunya

Plaza de Catalunya is surrounded by major stores such as Apple, Zara, and Adidas. It’s the perfect place to shop and eat. Right in the middle you’ll find hundreds of hungry pigeons. You can buy bird food from locals for about 3 euros and pour it on your hand. Next thing you know, you’ll have 100 pigeons fighting on top of you, but it makes for a great picture!

Park Güell

One of my favorite places in all of Barcelona! It’s like no park you’ve been to before. A park Güell  is designed by the famous Gaudi and is located on on the southern slope of Mount Carmelo. It has one of the best views of all of Barcelona. You can see the ocean, the buildings, and the Sagrada Familia. You will dins colorful mosaics made from ceramic pieces all over the park. It truly is one of a kind.

General admission is 10 €. Make sure to wear shoes or comfortable sandals because you will be walking a lot especially uphill!

The Kiss of Freedom (Kissing Mural)

Located right next to Barcelona Cathedral is a perfect photo op. This kissing mural is made of up of around 4,000 of tiny ceramic tiles. Each individual tile is has a picture of a person, a place, a moment, or something that expresses freedom. To find it, just type Plaça d’Isidre Nonell in your google maps.

Citadel Park

A beautiful park to talk a walk. There are fountains.

Arco de Triunfo de Barcelona

Plaza de Catalunya is surrounded by major stores such as Apple, Zara, and Adidas. It’s the perfect place to shop and eat. Right in the middle you’ll find hundreds of hungry pigeons. You can buy bird food from locals for about 3 euros and pour it on your hand. Next thing you know, you’ll have 100 pigeons fighting on top of you, but it makes for a great picture!

Las Ramblas

The iconic Las Ramblas street is located in the heart of Barcelona. You can find so much here. From food, to shopping, to local art, and street performances.

Barcelona Beach

Plaza de Catalunya is surrounded by major stores such as Apple, Zara, and Adidas. It’s the perfect place to shop and eat. Right in the middle you’ll find hundreds of hungry pigeons. You can buy bird food from locals for about 3 euros and pour it on your hand. Next thing you know, you’ll have 100 pigeons fighting on top of you, but it makes for a great picture!

Where to Eat in Barcelona

Imagine getting food and drinks while overlooking the historic Sagrada Familia. Ayre Hotel Rosellon is one of the rooftops with the best views in Barcelona. They offer a variety of food and drinks. Before you go, make sure to book your table in advance online. There is a one drink minimum per person.

FOC Restaurant

Mercado de La Boqueria

A market where you will find fresh fruit, meats, seafood, and so much more!

Cafe Menssana

By far the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had!

La Polleria

Make sure to order one of their famous waffles. I won’t say much about this place, so you can experience it for yourself…I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…BUT i will say, these waffles were DELICIOUS.
